We often talk about the financial reasons to invest in real estate. Home ownership certainly adds value to our communities and our families. However, we don't usually talk about the intangible reasons to own a home. There are definitely emotional reasons to buy a home. Finances are incredibly important, but there is more to a home than its monetary value. Here are five non-financial reasons to own a home.

1. Having a great place to live. Your home is your place. You can raise children, provide them with outstanding education, and do it all in a great neighborhood. It's wonderful to have a place to call home.

2. Safety. A home is a place where you and your family are safe and secure.

3. More space. Owning a home gives you and your family room to spread out. You can even have a driveway with a garage!

4. You have control over your living space. If you want to try some new things you saw on HGTV, you don't have to ask a landlord; just go ahead. Get creative.

5. Build wealth. Owning a home is a great way to build wealth to pass on to your family. It's an investment that can last a lifetime.
